The Record Institute — Archive of Rare Historical Artifacts Seattle, Washington · Established 2026

Get in Touch

The Record Institute welcomes correspondence from scholars, journalists, fellow institutions, donors, rights holders, and members of the public interested in our work.

We do not maintain social media as a primary communication channel. The most reliable way to reach us is by email, at the address below.

We read every message we receive. Where a response is warranted, we aim to reply within a reasonable period — though as a small institution, we ask for your patience during periods of editorial intensity.

Please include relevant context in your subject line where possible — for example, the title of the artifact in question, the nature of the inquiry, or the institution you represent. This helps us route correspondence appropriately and respond more meaningfully.

What We Welcome

The following inquiries are particularly welcomed:

Scholarly correspondence — questions, observations, corrections, citation inquiries, and requests for higher-resolution access for documented academic work. We are generally able to support legitimate scholarly research.

Journalistic inquiries — press requests, interview opportunities, and image use for editorial coverage. We can typically provide founder commentary and supporting materials within reasonable timeframes.

Institutional collaboration — outreach from museums, archives, libraries, universities, and other heritage institutions interested in partnership, exchange, or shared scholarship.

Donations of material — offers of vintage print advertisements, ephemera collections, or related historical materials for archival consideration. We review every offer carefully and respond directly.

Rights and permissions — requests for permission to use TRI editorial content beyond what is permitted under our Terms of Use, as well as inquiries from rights holders regarding artifacts in the archive.

Copyright and DMCA — formal copyright notifications under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Please refer to our Copyright & Conservation policy for the required notification format.

Privacy matters — requests to exercise rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable data protection laws. Please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Corrections — notifications of factual, attributional, or material errors in our editorial entries. We take corrections seriously and act on them promptly.

General correspondence — letters from readers and visitors who simply wish to share an observation, a memory connected to an artifact, or a thought on the work. These mean a great deal to us.

What We Cannot Do

We respectfully note the following limitations:

We do not provide formal appraisals, authentications, or valuations for sale, insurance, or tax purposes. For these, please consult an appraiser accredited by the American Society of Appraisers, the International Society of Appraisers, or an equivalent professional body.

We do not offer legal advice of any kind, including on copyright, trademark, fair use, or rights-of-publicity questions specific to your situation.

We do not engage in the purchase, sale, or brokerage of artifacts. The Record Institute is an archive, not a marketplace.

We do not respond to unsolicited promotional outreach, link-building requests, SEO solicitations, marketing partnership offers, or commercial advertising proposals.

Response Times

The Record Institute operates with a small dedicated team. We aim to respond to substantive correspondence within a reasonable time, though scholarly, institutional, and rights matters may take longer to address thoroughly.

For time-sensitive press inquiries, please indicate the deadline in your subject line, and we will do our best to respond accordingly.
